Dana Sells California aims to make this website usable by everyone, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, magnification, or voice control. We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as our target, and we review the site as new pages and features are added.
1. What We Have Built In
- Keyboard use — navigation menus, property filters, forms, and dialogs can be reached and operated with Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and Escape, with a visible focus indicator.
- Headings and reading order — every page uses one main heading followed by nested headings, so screen reader users can scan and jump between sections.
- Text size and zoom — page text scales to at least 200% without losing content or functionality, and the site reflows for phones and tablets instead of requiring horizontal scrolling.
- Color contrast — body text, form labels, and button labels use color pairings that meet the WCAG contrast minimums; information is never carried by color alone, so listing status labels are written out as words.
- Alternative text — photographs and logos carry descriptive text, and purely decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Forms and messages — fields are labeled, required fields are marked, and error and confirmation messages are announced rather than shown only as a color change.
- Touch and calling — tap targets are large enough for a fingertip, and property pages show a one-tap call button so a call can be placed without reading or copying a number.
- Downloadable guides — the Buyer's and Seller's Guides are offered as downloadable PDFs; if one is not readable with your assistive technology, contact us and we will provide the information another way.
2. Known Limitations
- Some property photographs and floor plans arrive from third-party sources without detailed descriptions; we add captions where we can and provide details by phone or email on request.
- Documents and pages we do not control — lender calculators, MLS or listing-portal pages, social networks, and embedded maps — follow those providers' own accessibility practices.
- Older PDF guides may not be fully tagged for screen readers; ask us and we will supply the same content in an accessible format.
3. Browsers and Assistive Technology
The site is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox, and with the screen readers that pair with them (VoiceOver on iOS and macOS, TalkBack on Android, and NVDA or JAWS on Windows). Because the site is also installable to a phone home screen, it is tested at small screen sizes as well as on a desktop.
